Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic or aesthetic dentistry is comprehensive oral care that combines science and art to optimally improve dental health, aesthetics and function. Many procedures can be undertaken to improve the appearance of your smile. In a study by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, researchers found that 90% of patients agree that an attractive smile is an important asset. Our Dental practice offers a full spectrum of cosmetic dental procedures and processes to help you achieve a smile you will love

Tooth Coloured Fillings

If you require a filling, we offer sophisticated and gentle procedures using state of the art materials. Traditionally fillings have been made of silver amalgam or mercury that are not very aesthetically pleasing and these metal fillings are also thought to put the tooth at a higher risk for fracture. The metal technique has been used successfully for over 150 years, however these fillings are being replaced rapidly by tooth coloured porcelain and composite fillings.

Tooth Whitening

The team at All Smiles Family Dentistry are proud to offer the PolaDay whitening system by SDI, we have found it to have dramatic long lasting results.

PolaDay is a powerful 9.5% whitening gel that comes in syringe and applied to custom made whitening trays. These trays fit comfortably in your mouth. Wear the tray for the recommended time, usually 30 minutes once or twice a day for a period of 7-10 days. After the course of the treatment you will find your teeth may be whiter and brighter than before. Results may vary depending on the original tooth shade, age and diet.

If you are self-conscious about your smile time now you can do something about it, just ask us how!

Crowns and Bridges

A crown, also commonly known as a cap, is an artificial covering that fits seamlessly over the existing natural tooth. Crowns are used to repair badly decayed, root filled, broken or severely discoloured teeth. Crowns are also used to protect a weak tooth from breaking or restore one that’s already been broken. They are also used for a bridge to replace missing teeth, where a crown is made for the teeth on either side of the gap and a false crown is made to fill in the gap. The 3 crowns are then joined together to form a bridge. Crowns are made from a special porcelain material. Crowns will give you back the strength and look of the original tooth.

A veneer is a custom-made shell-like attachment that is placed over the front of your natural tooth in order to address imperfections or weaknesses in the tooth. They are made from a special porcelain material that is specially prepared to look and feel like a natural tooth. While veneers are generally chosen for their ability to enhance the aesthetics of the smile, they also provide the tooth with strength similar to our natural enamel.

Periodontal Disease / Gum Disease

Maintaining your oral hygiene is one of the most important things you can do for your mouth as healthy teeth and gums not only make your smile look good they make it possible for you to eat and speak properly. Preventing problems in your mouth is the key to keeping you in great shape. Having good oral hygiene and regular professional teeth cleaning is crucial for not only your mouth health but your entire body’s health. Gum infections and periodontal disease is related to heart disease and stroke but with regular dental exams and professional teeth cleanings can help to prevent these serious conditions. If treated early periodontal disease can be well managed and many patients are able to save teeth by this treatment.

Root Canal Therapy

If you have been told you need Root Canal Treatment to save your tooth from extraction, it is important that you understand why this procedure is necessary and what happens during root canal therapy. Root Canal Therapy unlike the movies make it out to be is a relatively painless treatment and often patients don’t feel a thing.
A root canal treatment is used to save a tooth with an infected or dead pulp. The pulp is a tissue material that occurs inside each tooth, providing the tooth with nerves and nutrients and the pulp tissue can occasionally die if damaged or diseased. This procedure saves the tooth by cleaning out the diseased pulp and reconstructing the canal with a special filling material.

Facial cosmetic injectable treatment

Anti-Wrinkle Injections are one of the best-known treatments used to reduce or remove facial lines, wrinkles and crows-feet. Injections work by blocking the transmission of the nerve impulses to the muscles. By doing this the muscles are less active, this helps to reduce the appearance of persistent lines and wrinkles. One single treatment can last up to 4-6 months and is virtually painless.
We also offer this to help people who have a gummy smile to relax the lip muscles. This treatment can also help with TMJ (Jaw) pain in some cases.
Why see a dentist for this treatment?
We get this question a lot, but really who knows the face and the muscles better than your dentist, we constantly work with people’s smiles and facial symmetry and we are highly trained in giving injections as painlessly as possible.
